Microsoft Tag now available in beta for free

Microsoft Tag is actually a mobile application which relies on Microsoft’s own barcode technology (known as High Capacity Color Barcode, or HCCB), where it is now coming out of beta and the reader is available (for free) for the following platforms – Android, iPhone, BlackBerry, Symbian, Windows Mobile and Palm OS. It is also available for J2ME handsets if you decide to swing that way. Microsoft Tag is able to enable users to instantly link to a mobile website or video, or perhaps even add someone to their address book, and create their own Tags with the Tag Manager. According to Microsoft, over a billion Tags have been printed worldwide since its launch 18 months back, which means the technology is more and more popular. You can download Microsoft Tag here, or point your handset towards this URL.
